“Well, well, well”, you say. Where has Radar been? I am right here. I have been lurking around the world in many ways. And you never know when I will pop up out of my fox hole with some useful information.
BMX, what is that? I haven’t really heard of much going on locally in the Great NW. Does that mean everyone has shut it down for the year? I don’t know. I know I shut it down after Pasco (racing that is). I didn’t want to wear myself out in 2005. But, I think I might ramp up again for the indoor season. I hear from Mr. www.dlmnw.com that Oasis indoor was planning a track layout this last weekend and they are going to be pushing some dirt around this weekend (October 15th-16th). You might want to check out www.oregonbmx.com for the latest details.
I got a view of the 2006 Fly gear. It is cool as ever. You always can count on Ray Hudson on the crew at Fly for setting the standard. And they have done it again.
Where did all the old guys go? I’ve been looking at the latest local race results and haven’t seen but one or two guys over the age of 16 racing. I guess they are working on houses, planting grass and gearing up for a hard season end finish.
I’ve seen the boys over at www.tribe503.com have been doing lots of Mt. Bike riding at some area trails. Maybe I will start doing that. You know, I don’t want to sit around on the couch to much and get morbidly obese (right Tyler?).
Oh, here is some news. Evidently there is going to be a new BMX mag called World BMX. We’ll see how it is. It is suppose to have lots of race coverage. Hopefully it won’t turn out like every other “BMX” magazines with all kinds of street and ramp coverage. Don’t get me wrong, I like the street and ramp stuff, but it sure would be nice to have a magazine that was like the old school BMX Plus. Could you imagine a totally race magazine? I think it’s just a pipe dream I have.
That’s about all I have for now. Let me dig deeper in the trenches and I will return with an update that will knock your socks off. I think I have something that everyone will like….

You asked for it, well, you got it. I know it has been awhile since I have sent and update. But, since Tyler from www.tribe503.com called me out, I felt obligated to voice my opinions, concerns, rants, raves and the all important rumors.
Unfortunately BMX is like a soap opera: You can watch it once, leave for several months, watch it again and nothing has really changed. You ask how that relates to the local BMX scene. Well, let’s see. It’s the same old stuff happening this time of year. Most of the T.O.’s are mad because Grants Pass got the State Finals again. Oh well, who cares!!!! I kind of like it actually. You don’t have to worry about where it’s going to be. You always know that you are going to have to make a trip to Southern Oregon, for a nice hot weekend of racing. A nice track, a good facility, what else could you ask for? Oh, don’t worry, I am sure there will be enough drama for all you folks.
Oh, and what about Alpenrose being shut down? I know, I know, who cares, right? I care. That track has been around for ever. It’s had its good times and it’s had its bad times (say for the last 3 years or so). But, there should be a track at Alpenrose. A little Beaver told me there is talk of the track possibly reopening in the old location. I think the new T.O. could take care of the neighbor situation a lot better than those of the past. But, hey, I could be wrong, but I usually never am. It would be great to see Alpenrose back on the ABA map racing a couple weekends a month and getting families involved in the great sport.
Let’s talk about WVBMX. That same little Beaver told me, he heard a rumor from a guy, who heard it from a racer, who heard it from another guy, there may be no more indoor. Imagine that, that would leave two BMX tracks in the local area. Gosh, here’s a thought (which Tyler had as well): If there are only two tracks, there might possibly be a greater rider count, which equals more motos, which equals more fun for the kids racing. What a concept to have only a couple of tracks to ride at. I am sure the parents wouldn’t mind it. No more have to get done with one track, pre-reg by phone so you can make it to the next track by the 1st moto, and then do it all over again the next day.
I understand rider count has been down lately too. Maybe it’s because people are getting burned out. Too much racing will do that to you, ya know. Of course, there are plenty of opportunities for all you points chasers to get that all important #1 plate at the end of the year.
Did anyone notice that Scott Rodolf doubled in Canada this last weekend? Congrats to Scott. That’s pretty darn cool? What’s going on will all the other local Pros? I haven’t heard much from you. DY is probably racing Mt. Bikes and will come out to the BMX track and school everyone with a coaster wheelie down the front straight (that’s a manual for some). D-Mo, well he is probably finishing up his bathroom remodel (I still think he should have put in a Jacuzzi tub). E-Mo, (who’s that you ask), that’s Eric Miller. He’s one of the nicest guys you will meet at the track. He is probably making those cool plates at www.proactiveracing.com By the way; check out E-Mo’s new addition on his website. Can you say Bling Bling? Adam, well, he has way more important things on his mind right now. Adam, I hope your mom is doing well. I’m thinking of you bud.
Gosh, I guess I should update more often. I could write another three or four pages. But, I will let you all ponder this for awhile and will make another update real soon.
Go Big or Go Home (I usually stay at home)

April Fools Day!!!! No this isn’t a joke. David is actually going to update his website after a month of nothing…. And it’s only because I decided to send him a report. As for me, well, I am always hiding under the Radar and you never know when I will send a report. I’m not like www.daleholmes.com and update the site every morning. I am more like www.gregromero.com and send updates when I feel like it.
Well, let’s see here. There was the 2005 Great Northwest Nationals in Pasco a couple of weeks ago. Hmmm, “Got Ticket?” That seemed to be the motto for the trip up there. The cops were thick and they were stopping people left and right. But, since I am Radar, I kept myself incognito and arrived in Pasco unscathed by the local law enforcement.
The track was very cool. A great, fast layout. The action was great and the turnout was good. Rockin’ Reo was on top of his game all weekend long, just ask John Valdrow. I believe him and Reo rocked it all the way around the track on Saturday. Unfortunately, John went down in the last corner and Reo got the last qualifying spot in the 28-35 I class. And to quote John, “I didn’t throw my bike.” You will have to ask him to elaborate.
The A Pro class was stacked with the likes of “Mr. Photo’s everywhere” David Wray, “I used to race on a track with a nine man gate” Ray Hudson, “Don’t talk to me before I have my morning coffee” Darrell Young and “The Clean Bike kid” Eric Miller (although his bike was dirty on Friday).
Along with those dudes, Eric Meyer, Scott Rodolf, and Adam Treadwell were on fire all weekend. Congrats to Adam for taking 2nd both days. And also Scott “The Rookie” Rodolf got his first podium on Sunday with a third. Watch out for the Oregon Pro’s, they are on fire.
Speaking of Oregon Pro’s. Have you heard the latest? The Webmaster himself, David Miller signed his Vet-Pro papers in Pasco. Look out for his National Vet-Pro debut at the U.S. Nationals in just 28 more days. The #54 bike will be on the podium in no time.
It was long and dirty, but that’s all I have for now. I have to go think of all the pranks I am going to pull today.

Yeah, I know. It’s been awhile since I have sent an update to Mr. DLMNW.com. Well, I guess I just had to take a break. You get burned out sometimes you know. All this BMX stuff can make your brain go Kuku for Coco Puffs.
So, I see that Mr. DLMNW.com has some famous notoriety on the world wide web. As I was making my daily checks of all the most important websites, I stumble on to www.supercrossbmx.com only to find a picture of the new MX-26. I think it might have even been the first one in the state of Oregon. However, word has it that Factory hot shoe Ken Pliska has one on the way. For all I know, he may already have it.
Speaking of important websites, I hear Mr. Fly himself (www.flyracing.com) , Ray Hudson, has a full page picture of some X-up action in the catalog. Way to go Ray! That’ cool!
So, how was the trip to Phoenix? Did everyone remember to take their hip waders? Word has it they cancelled the pre-race on Friday and ran a 1 moto transfer on Saturday. I guess you better have your game face on when the gate drops for a one moto transfer. No, skipping motos to catch your breath like some did at the local indoor this last weekend. Oh, and there were even people that skipped the third moto because they were tired. Come on now, get your monies worth and ride all of the motos….
Speaking of WVBMX. There was a larger than normal turnout of “old-guys” at the track on Sunday I was told. It’s really good to see the older 20” class with a bunch of crazies that can hardly balance on the gate. Fun stuff to watch once the gate drops. Keep your eyes on these guys. There should be some good bar banging going on in the next few weeks. Especially, with the Great NW National coming in just 25 more days. Get your train on!!
Over and Out.

So, there were 202 riders at the SCR in Eugene this last weekend. That’s a pretty darn good turn out. 46 motos of racing action from little guys on little bikes to big Pro’s on little bikes. Sounds like the Pro class had a wide age range to from the 17 year old rookie A-Pro, Scott Rodolf, to the world famous, BMX legend, ABA hall of famer, all around good guy, DY. BMX HEX’s Golden Child, Adam Treadwell won. He must be eating his Wheaties or something, because that dude was flying. Or maybe, he just rides his bike on the track every week whether he crashes or not…
It was good to see so many Washington riders down as well. Funny man, Steve Bourke and Factory man Dave Archibald were down to cruise in the cruiser class. Of course, they were originally going to just go to Milwaukie on Saturday, but the indoor track was closed due to electrical problems or something like that…
There was some good racing in the 14x class I think. Kids battling, crashing, throwing helmets and bikes. It’s always good to see young bucks have little temper tantrums when they don’t have things work out their way. I saw some 5 year olds that were acting more mature. But, I guess you can do that when you have the #1 on your plate…
Hey, but all in all it was a great day of racing from what I could tell.

Well, well, well, if there wasn’t a little ice storm in the Great NW. But, you know what? It didn’t stop a lot of people from racing BMX. It’s unfortunate for Oasis as their rider count was down for the RFL, which was evidently the first race without a Pro class. Good thing they “split” Oregon up for indoors. It actually gave the PDX area riders an option to race rather than taking their lives into their own hands by trying to drive on the Freeway to Eugene. Oh gosh, I almost got myself tied up in the politics of local BMX.
I understand the new indoor in Milwaukie was on the local news last Friday morning. That is great to hear. It’s about time BMX got some publicity on TV. It also sounds like a lot of people were watching and are going to go check out the new facility. I hear the track is still a little soft, but improving. I am sure it will be just fine in the next couple of weeks.
Get your train on for the first Oregon SCR, coming up on Jan. 30th at Oasis. I am sure there is going to be lots of good racing action.
Adios,

Hello all. Well, I just don’t have much to rant and rave about this week. But, I do want to send out congratulations to all those NW riders that made their mains in Reno. I understand The Wrayzor pulled a 5th on Sunday in his first Vet Pro National. Good job DW. I think I might just start a David Wray fan club. How cool would that be? To bad there is never any pictures of him in magazines and on websites…..(insert sarcasm here). Congrats also go out to Adam Treadwell who made the main both days in Pro Cruiser and pulled a 3rd on Friday night in class. Hopefully everyone made it down there and back without having to shovel too much snow.
Well, that’s all folks. Time to go ride my bike.

This picture reflects how I feel after the holidays. Boy, I am glad they are over and I am back at work for 8 hours a day instead of laying around on the couch wondering whether to watch Napoleon Dynamite (Has to be one of the greatest films ever) or my 76th viewing of Transit 4.
I am sure most of you have already started your new training regiment for the upcoming BMX season. Some of you may have goals of making mains at Nationals or maybe even turning Pro at some point during the season. My goal is to go all year without falling over on the gate, clipped in. Yeah, I know, I am like the 6 year old novice (that is clipped in so tight, you have to use a 25lb sledgehammer to get him undone) and should be running flats.
In other news, I hear the Rubber Chicken got a little squirly on the road and a fence jumped out in front of him. Hopefully no one was hurt and the Chicken will have more arm strength after digging those new postholes.
I was a little bummed that Willamette Valley indoor didn’t open on New Years Day. But, it sounds like it was a good move and the track will be good to go come the 15th of January. There was some scuttlebutt on a view websites concerning this track. I sure wish people would just act there age and appreciate the fact that there is a indoor facility that can be ridden on and not whine about how “bad” the track is or yada, yada, yada. Just be thankful there are people out there that are willing to put in hours and hours of work to give everyone the opportunity to ride/race indoor. And that’s all I am going to say about that.
If you care to contact me with any questions or comments, I would be glad to reply. Just click on the beautiful picture above.

News, Rants, Raves, Useless, Useful Information
As I was sitting in my chair contemplating Oprah or CSI Friday afternoon, the doorbell rang. Mr. Postman had just what I was looking for, Transit 3 and the new Transit 4 BMX DVD. Thanks to Jay at Aggro Bikes for shipping those out so quick. I think this is the best yet from Stile Industries (well, at least if you like racing coverage). There is even coverage of local Nick Brown in his 36-40 Cruiser Main at the 2003 ABA Grands.
If you like Supercross action (Motorcycles, that is), you might want to get some tickets for the Seattle Supercross in April. Just so happens that we got our tickets yesterday.
Check back weekly, for the latest and greatest in BMX news and other pertinent information that “Radar” might come up with.
Ciao for now!
